OPTOMAP

We recommend that all patients have a regular optomap retinal image.

This is an ultra wide-field retinal image that captures more than 80% of your retina in one image that means we can detect early signs of diseases more efficiently and effectively than with traditional methods.

It is quick, painless and safe for adults and children.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF OPTOMAP?

Your retina is the only place in the body where blood vessels can be seen directly, so it is a good place for optometrists to spot any issues that may indicate a problem with your health.

Traditional methods of viewing the retina only allow optometrists to see 10-15% of your retina at one time. Using an Optomap with its ultra-wide digital retinal imaging system means that we can see up to 80% of your retina at once.

This enhanced view means we are able to detect even the earliest signs of disease that affect your retina, which gives us more opportunity to educate you about your eye health and ensure treatment is started early.

OCT EYE SCAN

Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an advanced eye scan used to see both the back of your eye and a 3D image that looks beneath the surface.
